ABU DHABI, 8th November, 2018 (WAM) — The United Arab Emirates has expressed full support for the speech delivered by King Mohammed VI of Morocco, on the unity in the Arab Maghreb.

In his speech, King Mohammed expressed his rejection of all forms of blackmail or exploitation in connection with the question of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, affirming that no stone is being left unturned in the pursuit of progress in the Southern Provinces under a new development model, until the Moroccan Sahara can regain its historical role as an effective link between Morocco and its sub-Saharan African roots, be it from the geographical or historical perspective.

The Monarch spelled out keenness to enable inhabitants of the Sahara to exercise their right to run their local affairs themselves, and to achieve integrated development in a free and stable environment.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, commended the speech of King Mohammed during the 43rd anniversary of the Green March, and his historic initiative to set up a joint political mechanism for dialogue and consultation with Algeria to settle the transient and objective differences impeding the development of relations between the two countries.

Sheikh Abdullah added that conducting a comprehensive and candid dialogue between fraternal nations will help build up constructive and positive communications and strengthen and deepen their relations in a way that helps clear the air in the Arab world.

Sheikh Abdullah affirmed that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and through its historical commitment to support joint Arab work, is determined to help strengthen cooperation and historical ties between the countries of the Arab Maghreb and pave the ground for the establishment of cooperation and strategic partnerships in the political, economic and social fields with the ultimate goal of strengthening the Arab national security.
