Dubai: It’s not just France’s famous shopping strip, the Champs-Elysees, that burst into celebration during the World Cup final on Sunday.
Emirates has taken the iconic Airbus flagship to the skies to mark France’s victory over Croatia at the finale of one of the world’s most watched sporting event.
The airline has just released a video showing its A380, the world’s largest commercial passenger plane, painting the skies with the colours of the French flag to celebrate the win.
Emirates was one of the few carriers in the world that live-streamed the World Cup matches aboard its aircraft.
Several other landmarks at the French capital, including the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower, also lit up in blue, white and red colours to mark France’s major victory.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has also extended his congratulations to France for the achievement.
The French team bagged the World Cup after beating Croatia 4-2 in the final round. It is the second title for France in two decades.
