Wide range of community events return to Umm Al Emarat Park

ABU DHABI, 17th October, 2018 (WAM) — Umm Al Emarat Park kicks off a new season with community and family-friendly events and activities to suit everyone.

In the three years since its reopening, the park has welcomed over two million visitors and has been a home to several significant key community and cultural events in Abu Dhabi.

This season, Umm Al Emarat Park will host a diverse array of public events that will engage youth and families with the season’s favourites. The family’s staple outdoor movie screenings in the Children’s Garden return every weekend in October with a selection of classic and popular cartoons for the little ones. Abu Dhabi’s biggest outdoor market and community favourite, the Ripe Market, returns every Saturday from 20th October, from 15:00 to 21:00.

With more than 100 vendors throughout the season, including those selling organic fruits and vegetables, exciting new food concepts, local artisanal products, live entertainment, arts and crafts workshops for all ages and free fitness classes, the unique variety of activities offers the community a large selection of things to do on their weekends outdoors.

Umm Al Emarat Park welcomes back major public events including ‘The Mini Dash’ on 17th November, a family fitness event which gives children the opportunity to try a wide variety of sports and enjoy a friendly fun run.

Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 will host the free and inclusive community walk, Walk Unified, from November to March in the park with a range of activities happening at each monthly edition. Walk Unified brings together people of determination, their families, and the community at large to celebrate inclusion.

Fitness enthusiasts who wish to walk or run outdoors in groups can mark their calendars for the popular and free community walk/run iTrainSaturdays presented by Daman Insurance, every Saturday, from 27th October. Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation, ADMAF, will display the award-winning interactive pavilion of The Christo and Jeanne-Claude Award in December, in addition to ‘Festival in the Park’ at the end of February, a line-up of performances and activities which is part of the Abu Dhabi Festival.

Medhat El Sisi, General Manager of Umm Al Emarat Park, said, “We are delighted to continue to add to Abu Dhabi’s offering of community and cultural events in Umm Al Emarat Park.
