Al Ain, UAE: Today, the UAEU Chancellor, H.E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Adviser to H.H. the President of the UAE, chaired a meeting of the UAEU’s Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees consists of H.E. Mariam Bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment; Rt. Hon. Professor the Lord Ajay Kakkar PC, Emeritus Professor of Surgery, University College London (UK), President of the Thrombosis Research Institute and Chair of King’ Health Partners; H.E. Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri, Director General of Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority; H.E. Faisal Al Bannai, Secretary General of the Advanced Technology Research Council; H.E. Mona Ghanim Al Marri, Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office; H.E. Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority; H.E. Tayba Al Hashmi, CEO of ADNOC Off-Shore; H.E. Saeed Rashed Al Yateem, Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Budget at the Ministry of Finance; H.E. Dr. Mohammed Al Sheryani; H.E. Dr. Tariq Bin Hendi, Non-Executive Chairman, Edelmen Middle East; Ms. Amna Al SHamry, Senior Planning Analyst at ADNOC Distribution.
In connection with the University’s comprehensive action plan to accelerate the advance of the UAEU’s global academic ranking, the Board received a report on the profile of current research activity. This included an analysis of research productivity as evaluated by international metrics and the challenges to consider within longer term strategic planning for future progress.
The Board approved the UAEU Annual Report for the academic year 2021/2022. The report summarises UAEU’s vision, strategy and institutional purpose, its governance arrangements, global relationships, and a range of academic and financial data.
The Chair of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee presented its current report. The Board accepted the Committee’s recommendations and duly approved a new PhD program in Water Resources and a scholarship program for international Undergraduate students.
The Audit and Risk Committee’s Chair presented the Committee’s periodic report on financial affairs, Enterprise Risk Management, and Internal Audit.
The Board received and noted a report on UAEU’s financial statements for the fiscal year 2024 and ratified UAEU’s budget for 2024.
